March 29, 2017: Pied-billed Grebe

Another northward bound species is the Pied-billed Grebe.  Over a dozen were observed on the 26th on the south lake. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 3/19/17)

March 27, 2017: Northern Shoveler

Northern Shovelers are migrating through the area.  This male was found on the south lake's west bay. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 3/15/17)

March 25, 2017: Plains Garter Snake

The year's first Plains Garter Snake was found on the 19th, near the Upland Trail's south trailhead. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 3/19/17)
