Dec 25, 2021: December Hues

The last bit of sunlight reflects onto the clouds and surface of the south lake creating a colorful background for the feeding mallards. (Kevin Kane, 12/26/21)

Dec 21, 2021: Rainbow Trout on Ice

I was quite surprised to find a Rainbow Trout flipping about on the south lake ice.  How this fish got onto the ice is unknown.  Two possibilities: A raptor (such as a Bald Eagle) may have accidentally dropped its catch, or 2) the fish may have misjudged a jump out of the water (too close to the ice). (Wolf. Oesterreich, 12/21/21)

Dec 19, 2021: Nature's Holiday Decorating

Like lights on a tree, the droplets formed by a foggy morning mist cling to the red dogwood branches. (Kevin Kane, 12/2/12)
