Oct 19, 2020: Eastern Bluebird

Several Eastern Bluebirds appear to be roosting in the trees around Jensen Pond.  In the mornings they are flying about.  This male was found perched along the Quarry Estates spur. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 10/8/20)

Which one is a Northern River Otter and which one is an American Beaver?  The beaver is on the left, with the otter on the right.  Otters have whiskers and slightly smaller noses and ears. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 9/20/20)

Oct 11, 2020: Spotted Towhee

Two species of towhees can be found at the Park.  This one is the Spotted Towhee, much less common than the Eastern Towhee.  Both species were once considered one species, the Rufous-sided Towhee.  This male was found along the Upland Trail, by the sumac patch at the swing (east side of Jensen Pond). (Wolf. Oesterreich, 10/2/20)

Oct 9, 2020: Question Mark

I was surprised to see this Question Mark (Family Nymphalidae) on this rather cool day.  However, when the sun shone, a few butterflies were flitting about.  On the underside of the hindwing is a white dot and comma which resembles a "?". (Wolf. Oesterreich, 10/3/20)
