One of the annual cicadas is the Dog-day Cicada (Netibicen
canicularis), named for the "dog days" of late Summer when this
species is heard singing. The clear forewings have a greenish base along
the leading edge. There are 3 primary color morphs of this species
(green, brown, & dark/near black), with the green being the most common and
widespread. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 7/27/20)
