A female Merlin has been present for a few days along the Upland Trail. This morning she was seen tearing apart freshly-caught prey. Merlins mostly eat birds which they catch in flight, but also include dragonflies, small mammals, and nestlings. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 10/13/20)
