May 13, 2021: Woodchuck on the Move

Woodchucks (Marmota monax), also known as Groundhogs, are members of the squirrel family (Sciuridae).  They are actually marmots (ground squirrels) and can be found in the eastern US, across Canada, and into a small section of Alaska.  Woodchucks prefer low-elevation forests, woodlands, and hedgerows.  There is probably a burrow somewhere at the bluff.  This Woodchuck was starting to move downwards along the bluff's south slope.
