As I was rounding the SW corner of the north lake I noticed
a Rough-legged Hawk perched on the roof of a mini-shelter. The hawk
flushed, flew westward along the trail, and then dropped to the ground.
The hawk rose quickly, clutching a rodent in its talons. Then it flew to
the ice (north lake's west bay) and started to devour the meal. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 3/15/19)
