Oct 22, 2018: American Snout

The twin labial palps are long and extend forward, giving rise to their name American Snout (Libytheana carinenta).  Adults overwinter in the southern part of their range and can undertake huge migrations (currently going on in Texas).  Paul D. and I found this snout along the Upland Trail, above the Medicine Wheel. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 10/8/18)
