A pair of Red-headed Woodpeckers nested at the Jensen Pond
area in late September, raising two broods (a rare event). Only 1 young was produced in the
first nesting, with 2 in the second nesting. One was light-colored, while
the other was dark-colored (normal appearance). The adults appeared to have
left, but these two immatures still showed up occasionally. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 9/26/18)
