At this time of year the Dickcissels have become mostly silent. I spotted this female (left) carrying food. I watched her land on a Compass Plant and thought that she would drop down to a nest. Instead, junior (right) popped up and landed on another branch of the Compass Plant. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 8/9/21)
