Dame's Rockets, an alien plant brought to America with the
first settlers, is becoming quite dominant along the south side of the south
lake. This species produces an abundant amount of seeds and is dispersed
with the aid of mammals and some birds. Controlling Dame's Rockets is not
easy and should be done before the pods are fully mature. The vast
majority of these plants at the Park have purple flowers. This photograph
shows a plant with white flowers and was found along the Stone Brooke spur
(west side of Pond M). (Wolf. Oesterreich, 5/24/20)
