March 28, 2020: River Otters
I had walked down to the ridge along the east side of Pool F
to count the number of Ring-necked Ducks. I approached the north and
immediately spotted two heads poking out of the water. The first Northern
River Otters of the year! I hurried back to the trike to get my camera
and returned. By then the otters were on the ridge, but quickly slipped
back into the water when I approached. They swan near me and then
suddenly dove. I watched and waited for more than 5 minutes, but I never
saw the otters again. I returned during the second lap, but they still
weren't observed. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 3/21/20)
March 26, 2020: Ross's Goose
This Ross’s goose was hanging out with a bunch of Canada
geese between ponds P and F on March 26. (Tana, Tesdall, 3/26/20)

March 22, 2020: Cooper's Hawk
Both Cooper's Hawk adults were present by the savanna woods,
where they nested last year. This male stayed put while the female flew
off into the woods. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 3/17/20)
