June 27, 2020: A Giant Dandelion?

It's actually a Tragopogon, also known as Salsify or Goatsbeard and is in the Sunflower family.  Salsify's beautifully symmetrical flower head gives way to a huge, puffy silver/white seed head. "Tragos" is Greek for "goat" and "pogon" for "beard", thus the common name, "Goat’s Beard".  (Kevin Kane, 6/27/20)

June 26, 2020: Brown Thrasher

One of a pair of  found along the east side of Jensen Pond.  The pair have a nest containing three nestlings and they are quite protective of it.  The pair will swoop at you if you pass too close. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 6/18/20)

June 25, 2020: Have Dog Will Kayak

Just another night at Ada Hayden:.....

Until, at 8:55, a young woman drove up, leapt out of her car with a small kayak under one arm and a dog wearing a life jacket on leash in the other hand.  They walked down the nearby ramp, got themselves launched, and quickly glided across the lake.....

And reappeared.  They disembarked, walked up the ramp, jumped in their car, and were off.  The whole thing took at most half an hour....

But they seized the moment....
