March 11, 2018: Migration of the Speckle-bellies

Hundreds of Greater White-fronted Geese ("Speckle-bellies") have been migrating northward.  Many were found on the south lake ice over a week's span. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 2/27/18)

March 10, 2018: Greater White-fronted Geese

Over 1000 Greater White-fronted Geese, plus 120+ Snow Geese, and 25+ Ross's Geese were on the south lake ice today.  This northward-looking composite photo shows the concentration.  The sound was quite deafening when they lifted off. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 3/8/18)
