Oct 21, 2021: Tagged Monarch

On September 12th, I found a tagged Monarch (AETP 888) that was roosting in a tree in the amphitheater woods.  I added the information to the database, but to this date (10/09), have not heard anything back.  I was hoping to find out where the Monarch was tagged. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 9/12/21)

Sep 7, 2021: Migrating Monarchs

Monarchs are migrating southward.  This photo shows both sexes, with the female on the upper left and the male on the lower right.  Note the black scent patches on the male's hindwings and the thicker "veins" on the female. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 9/9/21)

June 17, 2021: Gray Coppers

Gray Coppers (Lycaena dione) on Butterfly Milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa), found along the Harrison Rd spur.  However, they can be found in most areas of the Park. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 6/14/21)
