Oct 25, 2017: Brown Snake

This is the first live Brown Snake (Storeria dekayi) that I have found at the Park.  [I did find a dead one in June 2014.]  They are relatively small (9-13 inches), with a dorsal ground color varying from reddish-brown to brown to gray. They eat earthworms, slugs, land snails, soft-bodies insects and sometimes frogs and tadpoles. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 10/19/17)
