Sep 29, 2021: Osprey

Sorry Osprey, there are no flying fish in Iowa, so you don't need to look up.  If you want a fish meal, you'll have to look downward.  Ospreys are currently migrating southward. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 9/29/21)

Sep 27, 2021: Great Horned Owls

These two great horned owls were in this dead tree near pond E near dusk on September 7th. They had both been in different trees, then flew in to settle on this one.  (Tana Tesdall, 9/7/21)

Sep 25, 2021: Blue-headed Vireo

Blue-headed Vireos, once part of the Solitary Vireo complex, are passing through our area on their way south.  This individual was found in the bluff woods. (Wolf. Oesterreich, 9/13/21)
