Jan 25, 2022: From the Records - Hermit Thrush

I was quite surprised to find this Hermit Thrush today [1/20/19] (my first January record for Iowa).  Although found in honeysuckle bushes and in the company of 1 American Robin, few berries were present.  Hopefully the thrush will find some sustenance or finally head south. Jan 19, 2022: Trumpeter Swans

A family of 2 adults and 7 immatures took off at 1605 to feed in a nearby field.  They had only arrived back on the south lake at 1515, so they weren't present long.  This is the largest family I've seen so far.  My high count of Trumpeter Swans this season is 187, on 2 January. Jan 7, 2022: Busy

This beaver was working on a large tree between pond P and pool F. The beaver moved on after a couple of weeks but I saw that the tree finally came down in the past week. (Tana Tesdall, 10/18/21)
