Apr 29, 2023: Pelicans on the Wetlands

White Pelicans have been stopping periodically at Ada Hayden this month. These five were among two dozen individuals at Pond E on April 11th. (Greg Courtney, 4/11/2023).

Apr 27, 2023: American Beaver

An American Beaver was observed swimming along the peninsula (lake-side), making its way to the culvert to the pool below Weir N.  I relocated the beaver in the pool, but when I was discovered, the beaver quickly headed back into the culvert.  I moved off to the side and the beaver slowly came out of the culvert. Apr 1, 2023: Wolf's March 2023 Wildlife Report

The first Common Loon seen this year was on the 25th, when it was spotted landing on the south lake at 0739. No more than 2 at one time were observed through the remaining days of March.  (Wolf. Oesterreich, 3/31/23)

A total of 78 avian species (plus 2 sp. & 2 hybrids) was recorded this month, ranking this month as the 5th highest March (& tied with 2007 & 2013) among 26 years of records. This total is 27 species more than last month and 8 less than March 2022. March 2022, with 86 species, remains the highest March, while March 1998, with only 44 species, is the lowest.
